The Hive Club

A Place to Belong Before and After School

At Hive Club, we believe children deserve more than just childcare. They deserve a place where they feel safe, valued, inspired and excited to be.

Based at Our Hope Hive, we provide high-quality breakfast and after-school care for children attending Thomas A Becket Infant School and Thomas A Becket Junior School.

Our doors open from 7:00am for Breakfast Club, giving families a calm and reliable start to the day. After school, children can stay with us until 6:00pm, enjoying an afternoon full of choice, creativity, friendship and fun.

Child-Led Play with Purpose

Every child is different, so every afternoon at Hive Club looks a little different too.

Rather than following a rigid timetable, children are encouraged to make their own choices, explore their interests and develop confidence through play. Whether they are building, creating, reading, cooking, crafting, playing outdoors, taking part in games or simply relaxing after a busy school day, our experienced team creates an environment where every child can thrive.

We know that the hours before and after school are an important part of childhood, and we work hard to make them feel special.

More Than Childcare

Parents choose Hive Club because they know their children are genuinely cared for.

Our experienced team builds strong relationships with every child, helping them feel known, understood and supported. We celebrate kindness, encourage independence and create opportunities for children of all ages to build friendships across both schools.

We work closely with families and the schools to ensure every child feels happy, settled and confident.

People Love The Hive Club

As the parent of a Year 3 child with autism, I honestly don’t know where we’d be without this provision. We’ve been coming for several years now, and it has become so much more than just a club – it’s somewhere my child feels completely accepted for who they are. As a parent of a child with additional needs, that feeling is incredibly rare. Since attending, I’ve watched my child grow in confidence in ways I never thought possible. They have made genuine friendships, learned how to manage their emotions more effectively, and now walk through the door with a smile, knowing they will be welcomed and understood. The staff don’t just see the diagnosis; they see my child as an individual and adapt their approach to meet their needs without ever making them feel different. What has also meant so much to our family is that this is a truly inclusive provision. Every family is made to feel welcome, and the best fair pricing means that children aren’t excluded because of finances. Knowing that support is available throughout the whole primary years has given us consistency and reassurance that Hope Hive is a place that will continue to support us for years to come. For our family, this provision has been life-changing. It has given my child confidence, friendships and a place where they genuinely belong, and that is something every family of a child with SEND hopes to find.

Hive Club has been such a wonderful part of our children’s routine. What really stands out is how genuinely inclusive the environment is — every child is welcomed, valued and supported as an individual. The team take the time to understand each child’s needs, interests and personality, and it shows in the calm, nurturing and engaging space they create, where children can truly thrive. There’s a lovely balance between structured activities and play, with a clear focus on practical, hands-on learning that keeps children curious and engaged. Recent experiences, such as the insect projects and the egg hatching, have been fantastic — giving children meaningful, memorable learning opportunities that go far beyond books. The leadership team are also exceptional at working closely with parents, particularly during the settling-in process. They take a collaborative and thoughtful approach, listening carefully to any concerns and working together to find the right support for each child. It’s clear they genuinely care and are committed to ensuring every child feels comfortable, confident and happy. As a parent, it’s incredibly reassuring to know my children are somewhere they feel safe, happy and understood. The staff consistently go above and beyond to ensure every child feels included and confident, adapting activities where needed and celebrating each child’s uniqueness. Hive Club isn’t just an after-school club — it’s a community that truly cares.

Our Hive Club is like a second home for my 6 year old twins. The club offers such a range of activities and spaces that children can choose how they spend their time, whether that's being active, creative, curious or just winding down after school. I particularly love that what's on offer grows with the children, constantly introducing new opportunities as their interests and needs develop. The team is incredibly warm, flexible and inclusive, creating an environment where every child can thrive, including those with additional needs. As a parent of twins, I also really appreciate the sibling discount. It is genuinely the highlight of my children's week - in fact, they regularly tell me off for collecting them too early!

Jackie

I’m Jackie and I’m a qualified early years practitioner.

I joined the wonderful team here at Hope Hive in September 2022 after having worked in various pre-school settings for over 30 years.

I am passionate about providing high-quality play experiences for children and have had the privilege of working with many young children and their families over the years.

Millie Laker

My name is Millie and in September 2025, I started working at Our Hope Hive.

Since leaving school, I have worked as a volunteer young leader at a local Brownie group. In 2023, I achieved an OCR Level 3 Cambridge Technical Certificate in Health and Social Care. That same year, I started a Bachelor of Arts degree in Primary Education, specialising in special educational needs at the University of Chichester, and I have recently completed my second year. During that time, I supported children at various placements in primary schools throughout West Sussex.

I have always had an interest in how children learn, develop and grow through play, and this year I decided I’d like to focus on that aspect of education. I have recently transferred to a BA in Education and I’m looking forward to completing my final year at university with a broader focus on the education sector.

I’m really looking forward to continuing my work at Our Hope Hive, furthering my learning and development, as well as supporting children and young people to thrive and learn whilst having fun through play.

In my spare time, I volunteer at Guild Care, where I get to meet and help new people and work as part of a lovely team in the shops. I also enjoy listening to music, spending time with friends and dyeing my hair all sorts of cool colours!
